As we approach Mental Health Week, we take a moment to reflect on the progress of the mental health movement in Canada. We've come a long way in recognizing the need for a more compassionate and empathetic society - one that supports individuals and their care circles with greater access to resources and treatment. There is much work ahead to ensure mental health and wellness programs are truly accessible, equitable, and available to everyone across the country.
At MDSC, we continue to lead national mental health advocacy efforts, participate in meaningful research projects, and offer supportive, grass-roots programs in collaboration with People with Lived Experience (PWLE).
May is an exciting time for us, with the warmth of the sun on our face and spring flowers in bloom, we roll out the annual Defeat Depression Campaign to raise awareness and funds for mental health initiatives across the country. We are so grateful for every participant, donor, and our sponsors.
Self care is so important, we encourage you to take some time to think about your own mental wellness, to take a breath, to be more mindful. You can use our Mindfulness Guide to practice mindfulness anytime you feel like you need a quick break - before work or school, during lunch, before bed. And don't forget - you are not alone and your mental health matters!
